About the Bujinkan

Below is brief summary of the techniques that you will be learning while training with us.

-Learn to relax the body, free the mind and develop your spirit through breath control and relaxation exercises.

-Learn how to develop a strong and flexible body that will help develop your Taijutsu.

-Learn the very important role that awareness plays in the martial arts and in life.

-Learn various ways of moving your body as related to Taijutsu. This aspect of training can cover many things such as acrobatics and alternate methods of movement that will challenge your body, mind and spirit.

-Learn how you can adapt with your body so that you limit damage when receiving various forms of attack. This is a very important aspect of the training and will include such things as breakfalls and rolls.

-Learn locks, chokes, holds, throws and controls.

-Learn how to counter and reverse holds, chokes, locks and throws.

-Learn methods of Kosshijutsu and Koppojutsu, Use of your opponent’s vital points and muscular structure (Kosshijutsu) and use of the skeletal structure (Koppojutsu) for your defense.

-Learn how to apply what you know against scenarios with multiple attackers.

Weapons training will begin your very first class. Weapons have been used by humans since the beginning of humankind. Therefore we believe that our students should be thoroughly introduced to the weapons training available in the Bujinkan. Weapon's training along with Taijutsu training allows the mind to become more flexible and free of distractions. This allows the practitioner to become better focused on the moment at hand.

-Learn how to use a wide range of traditional and modern day weapons. You will learn how to use a:

Katana- Sword / Tanto- Knife / Bo- Staff / Hanbo- half staff / Yari- Spear / Naginata- Halberd / Kusari Fundo- Chain / Kyoketsu Shoge- Sickle and Chain / Shuriken- projectile weapon / Firearms

-Learn how to evade and defend yourself against an armed opponent becoming proficient at disarming any weapon.
